Installing Apps with Softaculous in Webuzo

How to use Softaculous in Webuzo to install WordPress, Joomla, and 400+ other web applications in one click.

Softaculous is the one-click application installer bundled with Webuzo. It handles downloading, database creation, file extraction, and configuration automatically.

Accessing Softaculous

Log into the Webuzo Enduser Panel (https://YOUR_IP:2002) → Softaculous Apps Installer (on the main dashboard or from the sidebar).

Installing WordPress

  • In Softaculous, click Blogs → WordPress or search for it.
  • Click Install Now.
  • Set the installation URL:
    • Choose Protocol: select https:// if SSL is set up
    • Choose Domain: select your domain
    • In Directory: leave blank to install at the root, or enter a path like blog
  • Fill in site settings: site name, admin username, password, and email.
  • Click Install. Softaculous creates the database, extracts WordPress, and writes wp-config.php.
  • Note the admin URL shown after installation: log in and verify.

    Managing installed apps

    From the Softaculous dashboard → All Installations: shows every app installed via Softaculous with version, install path, and available updates.

    Update an installation

    1. All Installations → click the app
    2. Click Update if a new version is available
    3. Softaculous creates a backup before updating (optional but recommended)

    Clone an installation

    Useful for creating staging environments:

    1. All Installations → click the app → Clone
    2. Set the destination URL (e.g. staging.yourdomain.com)
    3. Click Clone Installation

    Backup an installation

    1. All Installations → click the app → Backup
    2. Softaculous backs up files and database to your Webuzo home directory

    Remove an installation

    1. All Installations → click the app → Remove
    2. Optionally create a backup first
    3. Confirm removal
    Softaculous removal deletes all application files and the associated database. Ensure you have a backup before removing.
