Restore Files and Databases from Backup

How to restore individual files, specific databases, or complete accounts from JetBackup on your RemarkableCloud cPanel server.

JetBackup lets you restore at any granularity: a single file, a specific database, or an entire account: without affecting anything else on the server.

Restore a single file or folder

  • Log into WHM and go to Plugins → JetBackup 5.
  • Click Restore → Files.
  • Select the cPanel account from the dropdown.
  • Select the backup date you want to restore from.
  • Use the file browser to navigate to the file or folder.
  • Check the checkbox next to what you want to restore.
  • Click Restore Selected.
  • Choose Restore to Original Path (overwrites the current file) or Restore to Custom Path (restore alongside the current version).
  • Click Confirm.
  • If you are not sure whether the backup version is correct, restore to a custom path (e.g. `/home/user/restore_test/`) and compare it to the current version before overwriting.

    Restore a database

  • Go to Restore → Databases.
  • Select the account and backup date.
  • Find the database you want to restore and check the checkbox.
  • Click Restore Selected.
  • Choose Restore to Original Database (overwrites) or Restore to New Database (creates a copy).
  • Click Confirm. JetBackup drops and reimports the database automatically.
  • Restoring a database to the original name replaces everything in that database with the backup version. Any changes made after the backup date are lost. Use Restore to New Database if you need to compare or extract specific data.

    Restore email accounts

  • Go to Restore → Email Accounts.
  • Select the account and backup date.
  • Select the mailbox to restore.
  • Click Restore Selected → Confirm.
  • Client self-service restore

Your clients can restore their own files and databases directly from cPanel without contacting you. Enable this in JetBackup:

    1. Go to JetBackup → Settings → User Permissions
    2. Enable Allow Users to Restore Files and Allow Users to Restore Databases
    3. Save

Clients will then see a JetBackup icon in their cPanel for self-service restores.

    Checking restore job status

All restore jobs are logged under JetBackup → Queue & Logs. If a restore fails, the log entry shows the reason.
